Sound Detection

If you have a Ring Protect Plus subscription, your Video Doorbell Pro 2 or Floodlight Cam Wired Pro can use Sound Detection in addition to Motion Detection and send app notifications¹ when they detect certain sounds.² The recordings of these events will also appear as entries in your Event History and Event Summary

Find out which doorbell or security camera you have in the Ring app.

Important: Sound Detection is currently only available for some users. You'll see a Sound Detection tile on your device dashboard in the Ring app if it is available for you and your device.

² Your device detects sounds, such as car alarms and dog barks, by identifying matching acoustic patterns. As a result, it may not detect all variations of a specific sound.
³ Your device initiates audio and video recording when it detects one of your selected sounds. Ring does not store or send audio or video to the cloud unless the device detects a selected sound, or it is capturing a motion or ring event.
