Best practices for Chime Pro

  • When setting up, plug in Chime Pro close to your wifi router.
  • Once set up, move your Chime Pro halfway, where possible, between the router and the Ring devices that need a better wifi connection.
  • Check your Chime Pro's signal strength to make sure it is receiving a good wifi signal from your router.
  • If your Chime Pro has trouble re-connecting, it might be due to interference. Some causes of interference include:
    • Materials such as stucco, brick or concrete.
    • House appliances likes microwaves.
  • Make sure your wifi can provide adequate upload speeds for your Ring devices through the Chime Pro. Chime Pro has a recommended minimum upload speed of 2 Mbps per device. Significantly lower upload speeds can cause poor video quality and other performance issues. Contact your internet service provider if upload speeds are insufficient.

Chime Pro Auto Mode

In Chime Pro Auto Mode, your eligible Ring device automatically switches between your Chime Pro network and your home wifi network, depending on which option offers the best connectivity.

Note: This feature is currently available on both Chime Pro (1st Gen) and Chime Pro (2nd Gen), for Ring Video Doorbell 3, 3 Plus and 4. Find out which doorbell model you have in the Ring app.

  2. Tap Devices.
  3. Tap your Chime Pro.
  4. Tap Chime Pro Network.
  5. Tap on a device to switch between Auto Mode (for eligible devices), Chime Pro Network and home wifi.

  3. Tap your Video Doorbell 3, 3 Plus or 4.
  4. Tap Device Health.
  5. Tap Network Settings.
  6. Tap Auto Mode.
  7. Use the Auto Mode toggle to turn the feature on or off.
  8. Tap Save.

Note: If you turn Chime Pro Auto Mode off for your doorbell, it will stay connected to its current network. To manually change your network to Chime Pro Network or home wifi:

  2. Tap menu (☰).
  3. Tap Devices and select the Video Doorbell or Security Camera you'd like to reconnect to wifi.
  4. Tap the Device Health tile.
