Ring Alarm Keypad (2nd Generation) modes

The Ring Alarm Keypad (2nd Generation) allows you to choose between three modes:

  • Keep Mode LED On. The current mode button light stays lit at all times (when plugged into a working power source).
  • Motion Turns on Lights. The keypad lights up when sensing motion.
  • Button Press Turns on Lights. The keypad lights up only when you press a button on your Keypad (preserves battery power).

To change mode settings:

  1. Open the Ring app.
  2. Tap Devices.
  3. Tap Keypad 2nd Gen.
  4. Tap the LED Settings tile.
  5. Tap LED Patterns.

If Keep Mode LED On is chosen but the Keypad (2nd Generation) is unplugged, the Keypad will perform as if Motion Detection has been chosen to preserve battery power.

If your Keypad (2nd Generation) won’t connect

    1. Unplug the Keypad from your power outlet and then plug it in again. If this doesn't work, move the Keypad closer to the Base Station and plug it in. You may have to use a Ring Alarm Range Extender.
    2. If nothing happens, tap the pinhole reset button on the back of your Keypad using the pinhole tool provided or a paperclip.
    3. Repeat the process of adding your Keypad (2nd Generation) if it won't connect. When it is attempting to pair (listening), press and hold the 1 key on the Keypad.
