Event History Timeline Information

Easily access your video timeline and filter by event type from the Event History section of your Ring Doorbells and Cameras.

Event History is a video timeline that provides easy access to all events recorded¹ by your doorbells or cameras with a Ring Protect Plan subscription (sold separately). Event History features icons on a timeline, letting you know when certain events happened. Scrolling back and forth through the timeline can give you a better idea of what happened within a range of time.

Types of events in your Event History

Event types may vary, depending on your device(s).

• Ring
• Motion
• Live View
• Motion Events
• Person Detected
• Answered Rings (doorbells)
• Missed Rings (doorbells)
• Key Delivery
• Linked Device
• Driving
• Traffic Stop
  

With a Ring Protect Plan subscription you also get access to Snapshot Capture² which takes recurring photo snapshots taken throughout the day that appear in your Event History.

How to filter events in Event History

To filter for an event from the History tab:

1. Open the Ring app.
2. Tap the menu (☰).
3. Tap History.
4. Tap the Events dropdown menu.
5. Select the type of event you would like to view.
   • If you would like to filter for all events, tap Show All Events.
6. Tap Filter Events.

To filter for an event from a Ring device:

1. Open the Ring app.
2. Tap the menu (☰).
3. Tap Device.
4. Select the device whose snapshots you wish to view.
5. Tap Event History.
6. Tap the Events dropdown menu.
7. Select the type of event you would like to view.
   • If you would like to filter for all events, tap Show All Events.
8. Tap Filter Events.

¹ Your Ring videos in the cloud are stored temporarily, up to 180 days. Changing your video storage time will only affect videos that are recorded after you adjust your storage time setting. Check Ring Protect Subscription Plans for more information.
² Snapshot Capture photos in the cloud are stored up to 7 days.
