Smart Lighting setup guide
Follow these steps to set up your Ring Smart Lighting in the Ring app. Learn more about Light Groups in the Ring app.
Pre-setup
Before setting up your Ring Smart Lighting, make sure you have installed and set up your Ring Smart Lighting Bridge.
Smart Lighting Par38 and A19 Smartbulb
Be sure the bulb will be installed in a fixture that does not have an internal dimmer, motion or light sensors, or a built-in timer. Additionally, PAR38 bulbs should not be installed in completely enclosed fixtures. If an A19 bulb is installed outdoors, the fixture must shield the bulb from water.

Before setup, make sure the power to the light fixture is turned off.
- Openthe Ring app to the main dashboard.
- TapSet Up a Deviceat the bottom of the screen.
- TapSmart Lighting.
- Select your location or Add a New Location.
- Scan the QR code at the base of the Smart Light Bulb. If you cannot find the QR code or it is not scanning, tapOther Options.
- Screw in your light bulb.
- Restore power to the light fixture. Once power is restored, the app will immediately start searching for bulbs and connect to update its firmware.
- Name your Smart Light Bulb.
Smart Lighting Solar Floodlight

Fully charge the Quick Release Battery before initial use.
- Openthe Ring app to the main dashboard.
- TapSet Up a Deviceat the bottom of the screen.
- TapSmart Lighting
- Select your location or Add a New Location.
- Scan the QR code on the inside of the battery compartment. If you cannot find the QR code or it is not scanning, tapOther Options.
- Insert the Quick Release Battery.
- Add your Solar Floodlight to a Light Group.
- Name your Solar Floodlight.
- Remove the mounting plate and install your Floodlight.
- Install your Solar Panel.
Smart Lighting Battery and Solar Pathlight

For Solar Pathlight, fully charge the included battery before installing.
- Openthe Ring app to the main dashboard.
- TapSet Up a Deviceat the bottom of the screen.
- TapSmart Lighting.
- Select your location or Add a New Location.
- Scan the QR code on the outside of the battery compartment. If you cannot find the QR code or it is not scanning, tapOther Options.
- Pathlight batteries.
- Battery Pathlight:Insert four D batteries into the battery compartment.
- Solar Pathlight:Remove the battery pull tab and insert the rechargeable battery into the battery compartment.
- Add your Pathlight to a Light Group.
- Name your Pathlight.
- Install your Pathlight.
Smart Lighting Battery and Solar Steplight

For Solar Steplight, fully charge the included battery before installing.
- Openthe Ring app to the main dashboard.
- TapSet Up a Deviceat the bottom of the screen.
- TapSmart Lighting.
- Select your location or Add a New Location.
- Scan the QR code on the back of your Steplight. If you cannot find the QR code or it is not scanning, tapOther Options.
- Steplight batteries.
- Battery Steplight:Insert three C batteries into the battery compartment.
- Solar Steplight:Remove the battery pull tab and insert the rechargeable battery into the battery compartment.
- Add your Steplight to a Light Group.
- Name your Steplight.
- Replace your battery cover or attach the lid.
- Install your Steplight.
Smart Lighting Wall Light Solar
- Openthe Ring app to the main dashboard.
- TapSet Up a Deviceat the bottom of the screen.
- TapSmart Lighting.
- Select your location orAdd a New Location.
- Scan the QR code on the Wall Light Solar. If you cannot find the QR code or it is not scanning, tapOther Options.
- Add your Wall Light Solar to a Light Group.
- Name your Wall Light Solar.
- Install your Wall Light Solar.
